HAVE BABY. MUST SLEEP.
Insurance & Benefits Coverage
Your extended health benefits may cover sleep support. Let’s find out.
At Have Baby. Must Sleep., the majority of our team are Registered Social Workers (RSW) and Masters of Social Work (MSW) — which means many extended health plans will reimburse your sessions. Some families pay almost nothing out of pocket.

How the reimbursement process works
Check your benefits
Log into your benefits portal or call your provider and ask if your plan covers Registered Social Work (RSW) services. No doctor’s referral is required by most plans.
Book a discovery call with us
We'll help you figure out which package is the right fit and walk you through which portion is submittable based on your consultant.
Work together and get some sleep
Complete your package. We handle the sleep — you (hopefully) start handling mornings a little better.
Submit your invoice
At the end of your time together, we provide a detailed invoice with all session dates, your consultant's RSW registration number, and everything your plan needs. You submit. Your plan reimburses.
PLANS WE’VE SEEN COVER RSW SERVICES
Most employer-sponsored plans qualify

Frequently asked questions
-
Most extended health plans do not require a referral for Registered Social Work services. You'll want to confirm with your specific provider, but in the majority of cases you can submit directly with the invoice we provide.
-
Sleep consulting is an unregulated field in Canada — anyone can call themselves a sleep consultant. Even though are team is certified, trained and mentored, RSW and MSW are regulated health designations governed by provincial colleges. When your consultant or a member of your sleep consultant care team holds this credential, your insurance plan recognizes the service as a reimbursable health service. It also means a higher standard of training in mental health, family systems, and parent support — not just sleep. We wrote a blog on how coverage works, what to ask your benefits provider, and what reimbursement actually looks like.
-
Often both. Because our RSW sessions can be billed as family therapy, invoices can often include both the parent's name and the child's name. To have your name included on the invoice, you do need to be present and actively participating in the sessions — not just your baby. If you have questions about how your plan handles family therapy billing, we'd recommend calling your provider before you start. We're happy to talk you through it on a discovery call too.
-
Yes, always. For the fully-covered Let's Get Sleeping package, you choose your RSW/MSW consultant directly. For More Than Sleep packages, we'll match you with an RSW who feels like a great fit for your family alongside your sleep consultant — and you're always welcome to make a request. We'll do everything we can to make it work.
-
At the end of your time together, we provide a detailed invoice with all session dates, your consultant's RSW registration number, and everything your plan needs to process your claim. You submit it directly to your provider — reimbursement timelines vary by plan, but are typically within a few weeks.
-
You can absolutely still work with one of our RSW/MSW consultants — insurance isn't a requirement. And it's worth knowing that RSW sessions may qualify as a medical expense for tax purposes, which means you could claim them when you file. We'd recommend speaking with your accountant to confirm what applies to your situation.
No insurance? Keep your invoices. RSW services may be eligible as a medical expense deduction at tax time — worth asking your accountant about.

More Than Sleep is the only offering of its kind in Canada. You work with a certified sleep consultant and a dedicated Registered Social Worker who are actively in communication throughout your package — one laser-focused on your child's sleep, one genuinely focused on you. Your mental health, your relationships, your experience of new parenthood. It's not two services running side by side. It's one coordinated team, built around your whole family.
